Mojito
The mojito is a fine and refreshing summer cocktail. It is also somewhat labor intensive, and requires two fresh ingredients on hand, so planning is typically involved. Here’s two versions that I regularly make.
Linda’s Mojito
Mojito tailored to my lady’s tastes.
Ingredients:
- 1oz white rum
- 1oz aged rum
- 2 small limes, quartered
- 6-12 mint (preferably spearmint) leaves
- sprig of mint for garnish
- 2oz Sprite
- ice
Hardware:
- Cocktail shaker
- Strainer
- bar spoon
- Muddler
- Highball glass or other tall glass
Directions:
- Add mint, then limes to a cocktail shaker. Muddle vigorously until all the juice is rendered from the limes.
- Add rum to cocktail shaker, shake over ice.
- Strain into highball glass or similar. Add a few ice cubes. Top with sprite and gently stir.
- Bruise sprig of mint by smacking it in your hand a few times, then add to glass as a garnish.
